    Heating Help!!!
I Have a 1 year old male ball. He is in great health and recently I decided to upgrade my tank. So I bought this monster tank 7' 2' 2' and I have to small heat lamps that dont seem to be doing the trick I have heat mats under the tank but I need to know how many watts my heat lamp should be. I am going shopping tomorrow and would like some ideas.. I would also prefer it to be red I like the look of the tank at night with the infared, thanks in advance

You don't need that large of a tank for a ball python. They don't move that much to use it, a 40 gallon is about as big as you need. By the measurements, it sounds like you have a 210 gallon tank. If you absolutely have your heart set on using it, you're not going to be able to run it on any under the tank heat mat, they just are not made big enough. You would need to get 17 inch flex watt, and cut it to length, and you would also most likely need heat bulbs to keep your ambient up. Personally, I have used a 125 gallon for a ball python, and it was very hard to maintain both heat and humidity.
