Will Pastel Get Darker or more Yellow?
I went to NERD today to pick up a few things and someone there told me that if my pastel is in fact a pastel, not a super pastel or lemon pastel, then he will get darker with age, not brighter. Is this true?

Yes, they brown out as they age. After about age one, they start to develop more brown pigment.

For real? :( I was hoping he'd get more yellow. So will he pretty much look like a normal full grown?

They do brown out (most of them)...

HOWEVER, that doesn't effect their genetics...in other words his/her babies that carry the Pastel gene are still going to be hatched yellow...

The browning out of them is what threw my interest away from Bumblebee's....*MOST* adults I see just end up browning out and looking like a regular Spider....

I dont think that many Bee's brown out... They just get that Adult washed out color from adult snake scales. But you are right to a degree.

Bees dont brown out nearly as much as pastels do. Pastels do brown out but oranges will brown out much more than yellows. If a pastel stays very yellow like a lemon pastel, it generally doesnt brown out bad at all. This is why bees dont brown out much. They are more yellow than orange. A pastel that turns orange after the first couple color changes it goes through, will brown out pretty bad.

Here's a yearling pastel that is pretty typical. She isn't the brightest pastel, but she has great blushing, so I held her back. As you can see, she doesn't look like a normal, but she is quite dark.

This is our 3 year old pastel. He's browned out quite a bit. Pastels have such pretty markings that even though they brown out, they're still gorgeous!
