Reccomendations on a specialized Herp Vet - Dallas TX
I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and have had a hard time finding a specialized Herp Vet practicing at any local animal hospital. I am sure I am not the only snake lover in this part of Texas on this forum so if any of y'all have had good experiences with any vets in the DFW area, please let me know.
Nothing dire, just ready for my snakes to have a local vet incase things come up and want to confirm sex.

preston wood pet clinic or north tollway pet clinic where I work. There are no board cetified exotic or zoo vets in the area, texas is horrible for specialist unfortunatley. Dr. Maxwell where I work is great however he's not really good at sexing

There is a vet in Burleson on Alsbury I haven't been to them but someone else recommended them to me.

This would be a bit far for you, but there is a really good herp vet in Flint, TX.

I haven't been yet, but Animal Health Care Center in Arlington, Tx see reptiles. Like I said, I haven't been there yet, but I have spoken with them on the phone and they seemed very nice and they were quite surprised when I told them I was having trouble finding a vet that would even look at exotics.

If you are in the north Dallas area, or do not mind the drive, I would suggest Dr. Randall Hickman. I received several recommendations from friends when one of my balls had an upper respiratory infection. Dr. Hickman was very attentive and took good care of my sick animal. When one round of antibiotics was not enough, he had be visit again, but only charged me for the round of meds, not the visit.
He also has an animal room connected to his main waiting area where he houses abandoned animals. When I was last at his office, he had quite a few different types of reptiles in there. I remember seeing a number of different boas, several retics, a burmese, etc. I cannot confirm it, but I got the impression that he worked with corn snakes on a breeding level.

I hope that helps! I know I will be going back to Dr. Hickman if one of my animals gets ill. If you do end up using Dr. Hickman, please reply with your experience as it may help others DFW herp enthuiasts keep their animals healthy!
