    a little confusion
I was looking on NERD and saw that alot of snakes have more than 3 morphs that make them what they are(sorry if thats worded wierd). Does this mean you put 2 males with the female or have to do a chain.

for instance killer bee axanthic it lists
    spider
    super pastel
    axanthic

does this mean that you breed 2 of them then breed the baby to the remaining snake?

    Hi,

Each animal can only have two parents so you are right in saying it would need a chain of breedings.

The minimum parents needed to make an axanthic killer bee would be a pastel and a bumblebee both het for axanthic.

Read the 3 stickies at the top of the genetics forum to learn about the morphs and genetics. It all has to do with combos. You can create triple and quad combos and on up. It just takes lots of breeding to produce results.

Well you can have multiple fathers but you cant get combos like that from 2 different fathers. For instance..

normal to a spider gives you normals and spiders.

normal to a spider dad and a pastel dad could give you normals, spiders and pastels but you wouldnt get any bumblebees. The fathers genes can only combine with the mothers. Not another fathers. Make sense? 2 sperm cant combine. lol! Sperm can only combine with the females egg. BUT, it is possible for 2 sperm from 2 different fathers to get into the same egg at the same time. You could possibly have an egg with twins that have different fathers. their genes would not combine though.

That is not true. Chuck Norris was made from a combination of 10 different sperms from selected males, each chosen by their unique abilities. The mother is kept top secret.

But in the case of snake breeding, we are not that advance yet, so the eggs could have different fathers, but the sperm will not combine.

Doesn't Chuck Norris live right down the street from you?

Ya, But he moved away when he eradicated crime around here. :P

I know BG said somewhere that Chuck Norris is doing his garbage. He must have a reason for that. I wonder what BG is breeding... Or growing... :D

ok so with myself currently owning a male spider and female pastel would it be in my best interest to get a female axanthic and a male pastel so i can make an axanthic spider and a super pastel then breed them togethor assuming i get a male and female? or is there a better approach?

    thanks

To make a killerbee both parents need to be pastels so I don't see much point in making superpastels aside from increasing your odds at the expense of a longer timeframe.

And it depends on what you mean by best way - least expensive ( below )or greatest odds for example?

The more experienced people would be better able to answer but for me I would buy a female axanthic and start raising her up to breeding size.

In the mean time I would pair up the spider and pastel you have to get a male bumblebee.

The I would breed that to the female axanthic when she was ready and hope for bumblebees or pastels het axanthic.

Then I would start raising any female bumblebee or pastel het axanthics towards breeding size and breed any males back with the female axanthic to see if I could hit male axanthic bumblebees or pastels.

It would be a better idea to get fresh blood into the project at as many points as possible though if you could. As long as you got the same ( or compatible ) line of axanthics there shouldn't be any problems.

At the end you can then breed the female bumblebee or pastel het axanthics to the male bumblebee or pastel het axanthics or axanthics to have your shot at axanthic killerbees.

As long as both sides have pastel and axanthic genes and at least one of them has spider you have your window. :gj:

But the more homozygous genes you can get into the mix the greater your chances of hitting it.
