almost a year old and 1000g is pretty good, I don't think it is a harmful weight though. My year-old snakes average at about 500-800g.
Ball pythons all grow at very different rates.

Being obese can definitely shorten a snake's life.
However:
BMI charts don't work for people in determining health, and they don't work for snakes either. Comparing age to weight is even less capable of determining snake health.
It's not too hard to tell if a snake is obese. It sounds like your snake looks healthy.
