Dumeril's Boa ate first time I offered food to her for the FIRST time :D
I'm so excited about this, even after the course of antibiotics and a shed, she still did not hesitate to take a jumbo rat from me:D! She seemed so excited to have food after she hasn't eaten for 3 weeks.

I'm completely satisfied that I don't have a finicky eater like Dumeril's can be:P. You shoulda seen me.. I was jumping around in excitement:oops:

Lucky for you guys, I happened to snap a few photos:P

By the way, since this if the first largest snake I've owned, how often should I be feeding her jumbo rats? I was thinking every 10 days instead of the normal 7 days I do for everyone. She's a good 6 feet or so.

Thanks! And that's alright, I'm sure someone can give me the answer I'm looking for. Walt I guarantee you'd love owning one of these beauties if you had one:). The best thing is they are slow growers, so they don't get the size of my girl until like 5 years of age:D

Good deal I am glad s/he ate for you..As for feeding you could try the 10 day thing, and if he gets to roaming like he is hungry before the 10 days then go with 7. It's more a thing of watching your individual snake, because others may have different results with them!!!:gj:

I'm on a 2 week plan with my female (Maddie) who is about the same size (a little less girth). She does well and never cruises around as if hungry. During shed, she'll even skip a week, so 2 to 4 weeks on jumbo rats works fine with her.

My young male (Indy) who is now about 4ft is an eating machine though and is ALWAYS acting hungry. Once he took down 2 small rats in a row. Then after the female refused her jumbo, I offered it to him and he took that too! What a pig!! I thought a large rat was plenty (or 2 smalls), but he didn't agree... :taz:

I would think feeding 10-14 days would be good...
