Having our roof replaced--concerned about rack vibration

Like the title says, we're replacing the roof on our two-story home this week. One day of continuous vibrations, thumping, and hammering. My snake room with rack and electronics is on the second floor. Does anyone have any comments/suggestions about how the commotion from the roof might affect my snake? Anyone have a roof replaced and observe any unusual behaviors or negative effects? I could rig a temporary tub somewhere on the first floor, or sequester him in his filebox carrying case for the day if necessary.

If it's only one day I wouldn't be concerned about it. Yeah, they'll probably be thinkin' "Geezum, what the hey is that big thing and where the Haiti's is it?" but other than that I wouldn't stress out about it. Just my opinion though. If it was me I'd just let them be.

Actually now that I think about it, it'll probably be more anoyying to you than the snakes!

We're having all the roofs replaced here at work right now but this is a three week project and a $35,000 roofing job.

They will be fine. It might bother them a bit but they will be fine. Just don't handle or feed them on that day. Keep the room dark if you can.

A few tips if you are concerned about the vibration.
If your rack/caging is on the ground or a hard surface(counter top,table). You can place some fabric, towels, drop cloths or blankets between the racks/cages and the surface that they rest on. This can help with vibration issues. If you have large water bowls or any cage furnishings, you may want to remove them while the work is taking place. Animals can become agitated or startled and strange things can happen inside of cages! Also draping the racks/caging with sheets or drop cloths while the work is taking place could help. Many times this can help keep animals calm and secure while strange noises and bumps and thumps are going on. Some of these ideas may not be needed for a roof repair, but may come in handy for the next project

Unless your house is sub standard to code, redoing the roof shouldn't cause vibrations like your thinking. The vibrations will either come repeatedly from hammers, or less so from roofing guns, either way, if your house was built properly the majority of the vibrations should dissipate before getting to your reptiles and those that still remain would be negligible by the time they got there.
