    Dark Tongue
    Hi everyone,

Varuna is our first ball python. He's a one-year-old wild type. Today we noticed that his tongue looks quite a bit darker than usual. He isn't showing any signs of distress, with the possible exception that he refused his last 2 meals. We checked the rest of his mouth and it looks the same as always. It's just the tongue. Does anyone know what this may be a sign of? Is this something that will require a vet's attention? Thank you for any help you can give.

As they get older, sometimes their tounges change color. I have noticed the same thing on my normals tounge. It is significantly darker then when she was a baby.

I did notice my normal male's tongue turned from pink to dark red as he aged. I checked his mouth a few times but never noticed any other discoloration.
I would just keep an eye out for any white cottage cheese looking stuff, which would signify a case of mouth rot.
