Petland!!!..!!!

So... i know how majority of people here dont like the idea of snakes at pet stores so i figured i would share my story. I got a job at the petland near my school as a part time job while im going through college, just because im super into bps and reptiles and such. I didnt like at all the way they had the snakes and were keeping them so i decided to kind of ease my way into that department, (being new its kind of hard to just start making demands lol). Anyway i finally have the manager of the fish and reptile department talked into letting me kind of redue the Bp section of the store. I plan on turning it into my own little area and seperating the Bps and maybe eventually if sales are up trying to move some morphs through the store. I didnt realize how little people knew about the care of snakes and reptiles untill i started working there. People were selling Baby BPs with 40 gallon tanks and just ridiculous setups. Thank god i stepped in and can finally educate some people. But ya sorry for the long post just super excited to hopefully turn the reptile section of this store around..

Thats great! It is always nice to see well informed people working at pet stores. Hopefully you can help some new owners buy the things they need to properly care for their animal the first time so they don't come on here and realized they spent a fortune on things they don't need :P

Nice job. Its great that your educating people. Each person you help thats that many less uneducated people and that many more bp's in better homes.

Good for you! I truly believe that one person can make a difference. After all, you will be educating people, and I just know some of those people will say to their friends, "hey, I was at Petland today, and this nice employee told me all about snakes", or something to that effect.

When you redo the setups, you should take pics of your progress and post them here so we can all see!

This is good! I dunno why, but lately it seams like a lot of people are getting hired at pet stores and they actually know what they are talking about. I hope you get to make all the changes you want. Good luck.

I have done the same thing while working at Petsmart. I am the main one to take care of the reptiles and if anyone has a question about snakes, they come to ME. You don't know how many times i have to steer someone away from getting something cause they don't realize it lives 30 years or that it can eat up to 50 crickets a day, etc. It just takes one person to give customers good valid information, after that its just word of mouth.
