egg/tub ???

hey everyone, what's the most eggs that you put in a 6qt from 1 clutch? would it be safe to use a 15 qt tub reguardless of egg count? just wondering, i have both size tubs but would prefer to go with the safest size tub. Thank you

I don't have experience in the matter, but I think either would work just fine. Henry Piorun uses 15 qt tubs for his ball python clutches (I believe). Here's a recent video:

6qt will hold depending on size of eggs up to 9. I usually anything over 7+ i use 15qt tub

man his place looks like a mini warehouse, also he's using mortar tubs for his bp's....hmmm, i like that.

Hey there, I personally like using 12-15qt tubs for my eggs. As I can usually fit any size clutch in them. Also it depends if I'm using substrate or non-substrate incubation. In the past I have always used substrate incubation and I like bigger tubs when using substrate. The larger the volume of substrate to eggs the wider the range of a buffer zone you have if something goes wrong (ie not enough humidity). This year though Im trying the non-substrate incubation and seems that as long as the clutch fits with out the eggs touching the sides your good. I'm sorry but have nevered used 6qt tubs so can't tell you how many eggs will fit. Again this is just what works for me, hope this helps.

looks like i'm gonna go with the 15qt just for good measure, also i'm going "non-substrate", eggs on top of crate just like Rich has explained a few times in other post althought i'm still researching on that.

If you have the room in the incubator, it cant hurt. Yeah I'm trying the non-substrate method for the 1st time this season. Everyone seems to recomend it and figured I would try it as I had one clutch last year with a mold issue(all eggs hatched fine). We'll see how it goes. Still have some time as seems I'm having a late season this year. Good luck with your projects :D

Yeah, haha--his work space is crazy. I'm always very envious when I see the spaces guys like him and Ralph have to work in.
