    ID this tortoise?
I *think* it's a redfoot? I'm no tortoise expert, but my neighbor just bought it from some folks who weren't taking good care of it(his words) for $15.

Any ideas? How does it look? The shell has broken bits around the edges, and scrapes(deep) that look like a dog was biting at it. The actual tortoise looks okay as far as no scars or scrape marks on the skin parts.

Oh and it's almost a foot long.. hard to tell in the pic.

Thank you so much! I'll pass on the caresheet info, but I think he's doing it pretty well from what he said. I mean.. after reading the caresheet it sounded like what he says he's doing. It's too danged early here.

Other than not overfeeding and making certain he's got even more humidity than the great state of Florida is providing us, I think he'll do well. I appreciate the quick response and ID!

As ironic as this sounds, that could actually be a yellow-footed tortoise. I read in a REPTILES magazine article awhile back that yellow foots can actually have red feet and vice versa. I am almost positive the care is the same, so it doesn't matter much.
