My first snake
Well this is my first snake hes a Pastel ball python. My friend has a pretty big collection and after asking lots of questions and being around all of his snakes i went out and got my own i liked them so much. Im really excited to start with this guy. I haven't fed him yet so im hoping hes not too fussy of an eater or anything. Feel free to give me some feedback, thanks!

Re: My first snake
I really like the looks of that pastel! Hope he is a good eater. Although it's the females you really have to worry about eating, assuming they aren't starving themselves.

Muahaha, welcome to the addiction! He's a great looking Pastel in my book. Congratulations, and again, WELCOME. I love seeing people get into herps, you're going to have a blast.
Cheers,

Re: My first snake
Nice Snake! I am pretty new to Balls myself. Be very careful, it is very addicting. I am looking into a rack system and some more snakes as we speak.. Endless money pit!! Woohoo!!

Re: My first snake
Congratulations and welcome to BPnet!
That's a very good looking snake. I agree welcome to the addiction. I started with a ball python and then got a boa constrictor and then a northern pine snake. I'm really trying to hold back as I find that it's enough for me.
My advice includes things like checking the temperatures and humidity frequently, clean the water bowl and give fresh water daily, wait for it to poo and take that and the snake to a vet for a checkup at least once a year...
Locate a vet BEFORE you need one suddenly.
BP's can be finicky eaters but don't let this get you too upset. They can go many months without issue.
Clean the cage frequently and replace all bedding. Many people use specific cleaners, myself I go for the simple green approach. Whatever you use, especially if it is anything with bleach, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse rinse....
