    Red-neck rig thermostat?
I've been called a tight wad before and if I can save $5.00 then sweet. Does anyone know if it would be possible to rig up a household thermostat bought from like walmart and get it set up for my UTH? Because I've been looking and it's like $25.00+ per thermostat made for reptiles plus gotta add shipping and shipping time. I can get a T-stat at walmart for $12.00 and be set.... Suggestions or anyone know if it would work?

It would have to be set inside the tank and it wouldn't be all that accurate. If you want to cheap out get a light dimmer.

Yea only thing is room temp fluctuates which with a dimmer leaves me in same spot i'm at now....

cheap t-stats work like cheap t-stats.. I do HVAC work and replace cheap-o walmart thermostats all the time.. not even worth the money.

In my opinion you should never cheap out on a thermostat. T-stats can determine whether your snake lives or dies. Look for a used Johnson or Ranco on/off t-stat on websites like faunaclassifieds.com

Thanks so much for responses wasn't able to get a definitive answer but since I already ordered a T-stat from ebay answer is no longer needed. Figured like previously stated you get what you pay for. :)
