Reminder to self: don't trust mommas! (tiny bit of blood)
Today was the first time I've been bit by a rat. I had one female that was evil and would try to bite me all the time, but she never actually got me because I used a glove. The girl is a brand new mom and has been letting me scratch her every day, but I guess she wasn't having it today!!!
I'm thinking rat bites are a little more exciting than ball python bites :P

And little miss Cujo with her babies

That looks like it actually hurts! I was bitten by an asf at the pet store once....their bites hurt like hell!

Lesson I learned a painfully long time ago. Remove moms before messing with young ones. They can get violent at times.

At least little Cujo is cute:)

I grab the females by the tail and drag them to the opposing side of the tub before messing with young. As long as their feet are touching the floor they don't seem to want to try turning around on you.

It does hurt! :tears: I was afraid to wash it off and see the damage, it's not bad, not pretty, but not bad. I think what saved me was that she bit my nail and my finger so I'm not missing any pieces

I'll have to agree with you! I've never had an issue with my other moms, so far I have 7, but goodness this one was, like you said, violent! Lesson learned!

My nursing tubs are a bit small so I think I'll have to take TonkaToyMan's advice and take the moms out. I'd rather not chance another bite, I don't care much for being bitten :P

That's a very good reason that biters are not allowed in my colony! :)

That's what I'm thinking. It's really hard for me to decide whether or not I should keep her.....This was her first litter and she had 13.
So if mom's don't normally bite they probably won't ever bite? She's never bit me without babies.
Do you get rid of them if they bite with babies, without babies, or if they bite even once?
Re: Reminder to self: don't trust mommas! (tiny bit of blood)
I feed off all the biters.
The babies go to the snapping turtle LOL.
I don't have any biters any more. Some are nibblers, but I haven't had any broken skin in a long while.

Ouch, tbh id get rid of her, only nice ones for me. I get bit sometimes but then that rats is OUT! :D
Nice ones for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
