    cost of a pastel?
Im considering purchasing a pastel male 09 off a guy in my city..
He is asking 250CAD and after doing some research on other canadian retailers, that just seems a little high to me.

He's a really nice guy and I've already bought a few snakes off him so I dont want to offend him by trying to talk him down in price (and complicate any future business) unless he is truly asking a little much.

Figured I would just get any opinions.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Can you think of any justifiable reasons why his snake might be more expensive?

Is it larger, a proven breeder, or simply a better looking example of the morph?

It always pays to compare like for like as well as you can - and of course you can always ask him why the others are selling theirs cheaper. :)

If the Pastel is very good quality, $250 isn't too bad. It's up to you if you feel he is worth it. :)

And don't forget, the OP mentioned canada.

Here in the US, pastels are a bit cheaper in price than $250 for most, but very very nice ones can command that price.

$250USD would get you a really nice pastel in the states, but aren't Canadian morph prices generally a little higher than what we see down here?

it is nicely colored, but not unlike any other average ball python. and its not overly large or a proven breeder. I dont see any reason for it to be higher than that of the price of any other average pastel.

also, its his only pastel. (he doesnt breed them or anything, in fact I think he just started the collection and got bored of them and is selling them. when I asked him why he was selling all his ball pythons he replied "I dont have enough time for them as I just got a puppy")

would offering 225 be lo-balling his original price?

I don't think a polite offer of 225 would be considered low-balling him. Especially if you have the 225 cash in hand to give to him (and show him that is all the cash you have on you) at that moment. If he declines, walk away. Let him know that if he reconsiders, he can contact you, so long as you haven't already found a pastel in the meantime.

    Good looking pastel :)

Looks like he might be going into shed (pink belly).

Also, he does look a little skinny so hopefully he will eat nice big meals for you!
