    Opaque feeding?
Does anyone offer food to their snakes while they are opaque? My yb spider has the classic spider appetite and will eat while opaque, but I feel like a full tummy is harder on the little guy while he's trying to shed. I know they like to be as slim as possible, but from the opaque stage to the actual shedding, he takes about a week and a half to two weeks. I know that pythons can go a lot longer without food, but I guess my consciense is nagging at me because I don't want to stress him out either way.

So should I just go ahead and let him eat, but give him a smaller meal? Or should I just let him be while he's going through the shed phase?

If they will eat while is shed then feel free to feed em. Some won't feed during shed, but others will readily take food.

If he will eat then go ahead and feed him. It won't hurt :)

I feed F/T, and when I have a snake in shed I normally dont prepare them prey, but I at least offer it to them first. If they strike I start warming up another rat, and if not I simply move on to the next snake. That way they can eat if they want, but I'm not throwing away rats.

I usually throw a rat in when they're in shed, some eat and most don't. If you don't feel comfortable feeding when they're opaque, then just don't. A couple of missed meals isn't going to hurt him unless he's severely underweight.
