Air Circulation.

Hey all, I was just wondering, how do you know if there is enough air circulation. I'm using a 64 QT tub, and I have 18 - 20 holes drilled in it, theres no problem with the snake, it just seems that when I open the cage, it smells funny... I know thats not very discriptive, but I cant think of a better way to describe it. It doesn't stink or smell stagnant, nor does it smell like plastic. It just smells like an animal lives there. I was just curious, is that a sign that there isnt enough air flow?

What type of bedding are you using? We use Aspen and it does tend to smell funny, especially after a mist.

....but there IS an animal living in there, right?
As for whether or not your humidity is too high (the result of poor circulation) toss in a hygrometer for 30 seconds, that should tell you better than anyone on here.

If you find that your humidity is too high, then you can either add more holes to increase circulation or use an oscillating fan to blow air more directly at the holes to decrease the humidity. As for the smell, after I clean with chlorhexadine, I wipe the tubs down with Healthy Habitat Deodorizer, which makes it smell fresher....
