Carpet Python or Red Tail Boa?
Ok im planning on getting a new snake sometime this summer and Im not sure which one to choose. Whats your opinion? Are Carpet Pythons better or are Boas?

Chevy or Ford? Its a matter of personal preference. I'm partial to RTB's. You may decide otherwise.

    comparing apples to oranges.
    Both have completely different needs.
Also the boa is thick bodied and the carpet is more slender.

It all comes down to you doing research on each one and seeing which one best suites you.

Either way you wont be disappointed.

I have one of each of these and love them both. If I had to choose, I'd probably pick dwarf boas, but it's just a matter of preference! As likebull mentioned, one of the biggest factors other than general appearence you should consider is boas are thick bodied and carpets are much more slender for their length. I love that carpets are a 'big' snake but typically don't get near as thick as boas do, so you might want to factor that into your choice!

My advice would be to go handle an adult Carpet and an adult RTB and see which one you prefer. They are both really cool.

As the others said, it's like comparing apples and oranges! I'm not a boa person myself, mostly because they get too big for my taste & I'm afraid of the IBD threat. But I absolutely LOVE my little Jungle Carpet Python, so of course I would recommend getting one. :)

People told me they're nippy as babies, but mine has been nothing but sweet and gentle so far... he's easy to handle, beautiful to look at, and actually spends time outside of his hide (unlike the BPs). I have a little branch in his tub, which he's on probably 75% of the time - so as soon as he's big enough, I plan to make him a "display snake" in my extra 20gal glass tank. If you want a big heavy outgoing snake get a boa, but if you want something more delicate and showy I'd get a carpet.

I have both, and enjoy both species. However, I am more partial to my boas.
