incubation temps

my temp ranges from 89.5 to 91.5 do you think that temp isa ok for developing eggs? too damn hot here.

What kind of incubator are you using?

a chest type freezer with 9 ft 11inch flexwatt controlled by herpstat nd. the incubator is working perfectly. problem is temp outside is to hot which affects the temp inside even when the herpstat is turned off. do you think there will be developmental problems with that temp fluctuation?

Where is the Incubator located? I would suggest putting it inside if its in the garage because it will help stabilize the temps, because of the climate control of the house. also try putting a computer fan or two inside to help equalize any heat gradient you may be getting in the large space.

A 2 degree fluctuation should not be a problem. However, if at all possible, I would try to dial the t-stat in at least .5 degrees less than you have, and 1 degree less if possible. I think the 91.5 is a bit on the warm side. I would rather cook a bit longer at a cooler temp than have the 91.5 potentially cause some issues.

p.s. We incubate at about 88.5 to 89.3.

by the way my incubator is placed outside the house. where i think it is cooler compared to the inside of the house. il try to point an industrial fan towards it tom and see if it will help bring down the temp.

David, I agree with what some of the others have said, 91 or 92 is on the hot side. I am incubating at 88 right now, and have had success at this tempurature for awhile now. 89.5 is what I used to shoot for, but now, I like it a bit cooler, 88 degrees plus or minus.

Yes, a while at 87 is a lot less dangerous than a while over 91. Temps too high can cause developmental deformities.

thanks. you think pointing an industrial fan at it will help keep it cooler? if not i have no choice but to place it in an airconditioned room. another question, i have been incubating at this temp for over a week now. you think that is enough to cause deformities? during daytime temps are at 91 during the evening is at 89. tia.
