No poop for 2 months??

My 3-foot 700+ gram girl was normally kept on a 5-day feeding schedule. She probably will be until about 1000 grams. However, she hasn't gone in two months.

I'm not overly worried; more so curious if this is a result of me being a bad mommy. ><

The situation was this: for the past couple months, my supplier has been having "dry spells" with dozens of his female mice. He eventually had to feed off several colonies simply because they weren't producing. In short, he's been able to give me 'sufficient' meals here and there, and sometimes I can't get a hold of him. My BP is often going 10-12 days between feedings, and they are also too small. I'm extremely OCD when it comes to caring for and feeding my animals, so this was driving me NUTS. I eventually ended up keeping two of the female mice and one male that he gave me and raised them up for a small colony (which he knows about and is okay with :rolleyes:). I will soon be self-sufficient and no longer have to worry about days of phone tag, which makes me so happy. Also, she has not LOST any weight, so she IS getting enough for the time being... just not as much as I would like to reach her full potential.

Long story short, is she not "going" because all of what little nutrients that are available to her, are being absorbed back into her system? She has no lumps or hard spots, she passes urine and urates, and thank god, the lack of food will end soon!

She should be fine! It probaly is because the longer feeding schedule. They only poop out want they don't use! A bath in warm water usually makes them go if you are really worried! I wouldn't be worried for a few more weeks! They seem to like to hold it in!

soak her in a tub of room temp water for like 20 minutes. or u can clean her tub really good, everytime i do that they make a mess almost immediately lol

I am jsut curious on why you are still feeding a 700 gram Ball mice. I mean it is ok, but i hope it is more then one mouse at a sitting. A ball that size could easily be eating small/medium rats and if you really want her to gain in size then get her off mice. Now if she refuses to eat rats and only eats mice then that is a different story and byall means continue what you are doing. Just curious, Todd

I understand your concern, but yes, she is getting multiple mice per feeding. She hasn't gotten a single mouse as a full meal since... well, since she was an itty-bitty little thing. I don't feed rats because they are not readily available to me.

Try the water thing... But I've noticed they wont poop after you leave them alone for a while or over night. You might be setting your self up for a BIG surprise :P

If all fails... Arroz con Habichuelas usually works. :D

Hmm... I gave that a shot about a week ago, and she's DEEP in shed right now, so I don't want to bug her. She doesn't appear bloated or uncomfortable, so I'm not worried about "forcing" it. Just curious, is all. Thanks for the suggestions, though!

She'll probably relieve your worry when she sheds :D
