Does this size of a 3 foot bp look ok? i have had him for about a month and a half and he has eaten 4 times he is on mice currently but i am trying to switch him over to rats

Also is this enough clutter for a 40g tank ?

Also i believe he is a boy that is what the pet store i bought him from told me

He looks a little bit thin, but nothing that a couple good sized meals won't fix :)

How often are you feeding him? i would start feeding him once a week.

    Your tank looks fine.

If its a male I dont think he's thin. Males tend to be thinner anyway. I have some that have been "thin" for a year now. Others that are plump like a female. If you have had him 6 weks and he has eaten 4 times thats not bad. He would gain weight fast if you could get him eating once a week like Tiff said. The tank looks fine as far as clutter goes. Just try to get him eating more during the summer months so if he goes off feed during the winter it wont affect him negatively.

If he is eating than you have enough clutter! I would switch him to rats as they come in bigger sizes for the future! I would start him on a rat pup every 5 days if you want to put on weight faster!

If he is eating that well he will probably like rats better. Most BPs do. Sometimes you get a strict mouser but from the sounds of that guy Id offer him a weanling. They are slightly bigger than a fancy mouse.

If he switched to f/t easily, then switching to rats should not be a problem. I would keep some mice on hand just in case he does have a hard time switching, but he probably won't.
