Hi Everyone! Im new the forums and have a few questions
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had her for about a month now and im just wondering if my Ball Python is really lazy or is this normal. All she really does is go from warm cave to cool cave, she never wanders around her tank at all. When I take her out she just kind of lays around for a while then she will get active. If I make any sudden moves she flinches quickly then relaxes. I've been trying to handle her about 3 days a week so she gets to know me. is this normal behavior for them and if so how long on average does it take them to get rid of the shyness if ever?

All good signs of a happy ball python. If she was stressed she would be constantly wandering around looking for ways to escape. They are very shy and like to be in small spaces (In Africa they spend most of their time in termite mounds and other tight enclosures). So by the sounds of it you're doing everything right so far :)

Yup, this is pretty normal behaviour. They will usually get better with time. I have a large adult female that I picked up a couple months ago and she was really nervous, but she has since mellowed out quite a bit. I have an adult male who is SUPER chill. He never balls up, he likes to slither around when he is out of the enclosure, never flinching or showing signs of being scared. All bps are different and they can change too, for better or worse depending on how you treat them and keep them.
Good luck. Just keep it up and make sure you are calm around the snake, because they can sense it.

As long as the cage temperatures are in the ideal range, you should be fine. One way to see their activity is to turn off all the lights, head to bed, then get up an hour or so later and you'll find them slithering all about their cages. Some of my snakes wake up early - they start slithering about within 10 minutes of lights out! :)

Cool thanks. she doesnt seem to be to active at night from what i have seen, and im up pretty late. I do have a night glow light for her and so i can possibly see her out and about, is that light not necessary? do you think it bothers her? If i turn it off its pitch black in my room, is that ok for her? sorry for all the questions lol. Oh and yes my cage temps are pretty good hot side(belly) 95f, cool side(belly)82f, ambiant air about 86f

    Nope, bps don't need light.
Actually, being nocturnal, they are right at home in the dark.

She doesn't need any extra lighting. If you want to put a night light on for viewing, that is fine.

I wasn't sure, the night glo "supposedly" doesn't bother them at night but i often wondered because i know the red light bothered the hell out of my bearded dragon! I used it so i can view her but tonight i will try no light at all and maybe pick up a little night light soon.

If there is no windows in the room then you may you a lamp on a timer to give a day/night cycle but you only need this if you are going to breed it!

No breeding going on here. I have her CHE running 24/7 and a fluorescent 2.0 running from 8am to 730pm then i had the night glo kick on after that (all on timers). Yes there are windows in the room, but if the blinds are closed there is next to no light. Im going to go lightless for a while and see if it makes a difference for her.
