Eatting Babies!

My ASF colony seems to be eatting the Pinkies if they are left in the colony. If seperated the mom raises them just fine. Was wondering what could be causing this. Everything I have read said you should leave them in the colony to give birth because of the reintroduction of the female could cause fights and her being killed. Thanks for any help.

Temperature...when it was too cold mine would eat the pinkies.

Your colony should be only the mommies (2 or 3 ) and the father of the babies, in one tub/tank. All weaners should be sexed and taken out on thier third week, and put in a grow out tub. I have lost only a few in the 2+ years of raising ASFr's. Good luck I hope it helps.:colbert2:

Ok thanks I will try this out. Right now Im running like 1:6 colonies.
