    Reptile show prices?
Hey all! I'm new to the forum and am not 100% sure this is the right place to post this question, but...

I'm going to the Gila Productions reptile show in Raleigh this May and was wondering how reptile show prices compare to, for example, the vendor's website prices? Is there going to be much of a difference between what they sell their animals for on their websites and what they sell them for at the convention?

To be more specific, I'm looking to pick up a spider bp as well as a bp (a male and female, hopefully). I think I can get a male spider for around $150 and I'm not so sure about a female pastel, but can I expect much of a savings over that at the reptile show?

I've just recently gotten back into herps and have never actually been to a reptile show (I've only had rescue snakes up until now!)

From what I have seen at reptile expos, their prices lower most of the time from what they actually sell it as on the site. Some will sell the same price as what they were selling on their site, but I find that most morphs are set at a low price.

Male Spider around $150 seems right IMO. From what I've observed at the shows, I normally see the Spiders around $200-$250, but they can be listed at $150 if you're lucky enough to get it before anyone else does.

A female Pastel won't cost you too much since Pastels have been around for some time now. I got my girl for $130, which isn't too bad, but I bet I could've found one for a lower price. Just browse around at first, check at all the Pastels and prices and see what you like.

Ive gotten some really good deals at shows. Just walk around and look for em. Talk to the vendors and you can usually talk em down on the prices. Also another idea is at the end of the show they are a bit more motavated to haggle on the prices

You can usually get a better deal at a show. There's less risk also. You can see the snake in person and there's no shipping involved. Shows are the way to go.:gj:

Make sure you take a notepad. Look at all the animals, talk to the vendors and take notes. Then start working on the ones you liked. Also, it's a good idea to go ahead and start getting their enclosures set-up and running...

Thanks for all the replies :)

I've decided to go ahead and snatch up the male spider (the breeder lives only 45 minutes away and I didn't want to risk the bp being sold at the show before I could get to him).

Now I just need to find me a female pastel at the show! I like to buy them small as I love watching them grow... and my ideal price is $150 or so... you guys think I have a chance at getting one for that price?

I'm hoping to pick up a good male morph at the show in SLC. The biggest problem is going to be having the patience to wait until OCTOBER! We might possibly look for a good, less expensive female morph, too...

Talk to the breeder, If they are going to the show, then see if you can pick the snake up at the show.

You might have a chance to find a young Pastel female for that price, but it depends on how many vendors show up and how many other Pastel females are for sale.
