Question I can't seem to find the answer to. :C
I just paid $21.50 today for four small frozen rats. I got them from the "cheapest" place I know of on Cape Cod that sells feeders. My head is ready to explode, because no matter what I do, I seem to be spending more and more money on smaller amounts of rats. I've only got three bp's, and no other animals I own eat rats beside them, so ordering a 25 count bag of sm rats with a shipping fee of 30-50 dollars is out of the question. Can't afford it, and it defeats the purpose of saving money. In my current situation, I am not able to breed rats myself. By fall, I should have the space and time, but for now it's not possible... Sooo I'm in a bit of a bind.
Is there a wholesale place in Massachusetts I don't know about? One that's preferably in the boston/cape cod area?
I would have posted this in the feeder section, but I figured that doesn't get looked at as much, and my wallet is crying. So I'm sorry if this just annoys you, but I'm kind of getting desperate.
Halp me? :please:
Re: Question I can't seem to find the answer to. :C
im from western mass so i cant help u find a place, but maybe u can start breeding a lil bit and euthanize them when they are they right size and just freeze them for later.
Re: Question I can't seem to find the answer to. :C
shipping is always that high when ordering online. You have to order enough to make shipping worth it.
Re: Question I can't seem to find the answer to. :C
Gah! I suppose I'll just keep it up as best as I can until I'm able to splurge a little more and start breeding my own. Thanks anyways guys! Sorry to be all whiny and stuff  I'm just cheap! :D
I'll try hunting online some more and see if I strike gold.
Re: Question I can't seem to find the answer to. :C
ask around to your local other reptile people and see if you can all go in on a big order, that way shipping will be worth it.
sometimes people post on craigslist and freecycle to see if other people want to go in on a bulk order.

Two words...reptile show. ;)
Re: Question I can't seem to find the answer to. :C
I stopped buying them online because the last third of the bag (25 rats in a bag at one a week) always seemed to lose their scent and get wasted but if you have 3 balls I think you should be able to finish a bag of 25 with little wastage.

Ok im lost here.
You paid $21.50 for 4 small frozen rats? Thats $5.375 per rat.
Say a bag of 25 frozen online is $30 shipping is $30 thats $60
Thats $2.40 per rat.
I dont see how "so ordering a 25 count bag of sm rats with a shipping fee of 30-50 dollars is out of the question. Can't afford it, and it defeats the purpose of saving money." makes any sense what so ever. Not to mention if you buy 2 bags your only paying $1.80 per rat.
Just lost as how "it defeats the purpose of saving money" when ur paying 2.975 less per rat. And thats not including the gas money and time u spend to go to the pet store.
