    Codom Morph Needs a Name
I want to start by saying that Chris Huffman proved this trait out and deserves all the credit. He sent me one of the animals early on (prior to producing a super) and I've produced more of the morph and possibly a cross with a Spider. But so far neither of us could come up with a good name so I figured this was the easiest way to get some input.

Below is the story as well as some photos. What do you think should it be called??

Here's a photo of one of the 'Huffman' balls

    http://www.dbherp.com/images/um1.jpg

Here's the background story from Chris:

    Quote:

Just for the history I'm going to call them Huffmans

I just happened to be on Fauna I believe and noticed a local ad and contacted the girl. She actually ended up working at one of the petstores I got feeders from so I ended up buying the original female and a male that I turned around and sold. I just assumed she was a normal, she had some nice coloring but nothing extreme.

At the time I had maybe a dozen animals so I bred her to my ghost male to make hets because I didn't have any het ghost females. It wasn't till that clutch hatched that I really wondered what was up. When all the babies were out it was pretty obvious that 4 of them were not like the other one or two (can't remember if the clutch was 5 or 6 right now). I kept 3 of the odd looking ones, and sent you [David Bellis] one odd looking one and one normal looking het. I raised up the babies and bred one of the 2 males back to the original female. If anything I kind of thought they were black pastels and I'd get a solid black snake.

What I got was 0.2 supers, 1.2 huffmans, and a normal or two. One of the supers was a twin with a normal in the same egg. It came out tiny, never fed on it's own, had a hard spot in it's belly around the umbilical cord, and eventually died. But the super that was in its own egg ate like a champ and is about 1400 grams. I put a couple different males in with her this season but haven't seen much action and didn't press the issue too much since she didn't hit 1500 grams.

The next season I bred the original female to a pin male, and one of the first gen females to one of the first gen males. From the pin breeding I produced 1 pin and 3 what I believe to be pin huffmans because of the color differences. I've still got all 3 of them. From the Huffman to Huffman breeding I got 1 super, 1 huffman, and 2 normals. This super never seemed quite right either. It moved funny sometimes and seemed to have trouble killing pinky/fuzzy rats. It too eventually died.

So over time Below is what I have produced from them. I still have all of them except the female I sent to you and the 2 supers that died.

    0.1 Original female

Gen 1 (original female x ghost)
    2.2 Huffmans het ghost
    Normal het or two

Gen 2 (original female x Gen 1 male)
0.2 super (50% poss het ghost) - One super died
1.2 huffmans (50% poss het ghost)
    Normal or two

Gen 3 Clutch 1 (original female x pin)
    0.3 Pin mystery
    1.0 pin
    Normal or two

    Gen 3 clutch 2 (gen 1 female x gen 1 male)
    0.1 Super - Died
    0.1 Huffman
    2 Normals

I've bred the super some this season but like I said, I haven't seen a lot of action and haven't pushed her since she's small. I've also had one of the Gen 1 females with a Ghost male. She's never produced for me yet so she's quite large. I gave the original mom and the mother of Gen 3 clutch 2 the season off. I didn't really know what to put with them and they both took a while to get back on feed after laying so they didn't get back up as big as I'd want.

Think that's about all the detail I can really recall.

And a couple more photos of the morph with a Bumblebee.

If it were mine, I'd lean heavily towards calling it a Black Gold, or Black Gold Pastel.

Beautiful animal. Perhaps one day I'll be fortunate enough to stumble on something spectacular like this. Stranger things have happened.

the patterns look to me liek the swirlnig when you put your milk into coffees and such. but I like them and can only say I know I'll never be lucky to get one lol.. Not unlessI proven out a new morph and can sell it ( that money would go into getting a proper place for a proper snake room first lol)
