Best way to convert from ASF
I have an albino female that I got about 4 months ago that was sold to me as a rat feeder. I was kind of suspicious based on the sellers reaction when I asked him about her feeding habits. So after 4 months of trying different tricks to get her to take a rat I finally tried an ASF today. As soon as I dropped it in her tub she was a totally different snake. She perked up immediately and slammed two small ASF's and tonight was out prowling around again. I plan on starting a small colony of these but is there any way to convert them over if thats the food they prefer? I thought about maybe rubbing the scent on a rat. Any other ideas?

If you can get some soiled ASF bedding, put the rat into a small container with the bedding for a little while, then try to feed the rat to the snake. Hopefully this will work and you won't have to start an ASF colony. That is unless you want to. Then slowly he should go over to eating rats without scenting them.

    Good Luck!

How long can the bedding be used until the scent is gone?

I'd say everytime you buy a rat ask for the bedding. I have no idea how long it will keep the scent, but if you're going to buy a rat, get some bedding.

    Can't hurt!
