    BP Feeding upgrade-F/T Problems
I Just got my BP eating full grown mice, Could I feed her rat pups instead?(they seem to be about the same size actually) She has a strong feeding response as long as she has live food, but Ive been working on trying to feed her F/T and she shows no interest. Im trying to be patient with her, any tips or tricks that may have worked for anyone? I wanna get her on F/T for her best benefit.(dont wanna rat to chew on her.) Any help would be appreciated. Like I said, shes eating, just not eating F/T. Thanks BP.NET

for F/T all I do is put the mouse in the tub and leave it there. If its there the next morning then Ill remove it.

Well, I heat it in a container of warm water in a ziplock baggie,Then I shoot it with my temp gun. try to get it around 100. I try to shake it ever so slightly with my feeding tongs along the mouses back and not its tail. Ive tried leaving it in her hide at night, lol ive bought more F/T mice that ive wasted than live mice probably. maybe i can upload some pics or a vid so you can tell me what im doing wrong, if its live the mouse is in her feeding enclosure for like 2 seconds and its bam(no more mr. mouse). I havn't tried the paper bag trick yet but i really dont think its gonna work(putting a F/T mouse and a bp in a paper bag and stapeling it shut overnight.) i read it on another forum somewhere but i'm afraid she wont be able to breath in there. any suggestions?

Make sure it's really warm, and you can always put a live mouse in with it just before you feed, to get the mouse scent on it.

Try wiggling and making it "walk" around by it's tail, I find this works better than trying to make it look real by using the back.

Maybe try a F/T mouse first before a F/T rat.

Sometimes they just don't take F/T after too long of having live prey.

    Good luck!:gj:

once u have it thawed and warm enough just hold it so it dangles in front of ur snake, if they dont take it after a couple minutes just set it in the warm hide and check in a couple hours or in the morning. if they dont eat it wait another week and offer again. they will be hungry enough to eat it soon

I'm a big fan of prescenting, it really sharpens their feeding response.
monty will take them very violently from the forceps but he will never take a rat that I just dump in there, it needs to do the zombie dance or he'll ignore it (or rather go mad looking for it but it needs the magic triad of scent/heat/movement to get eaten)

I tried pre-scenting today. Even though she didnt take it, she definitely seems interested. It might take some time so im just gonna work with her. Maybe the frozen mice that i get from my local pet store have been frozen too long, I read somewhere that that can have an effect, also. also i heated it a little warmer today. I can try again on her next feeding. I did get her to eat a fresh killed mouse that i killed myself with a co2 chamber. I guess thats a plus. :)

Put the mouse in a conatiner of very hot water ( to thaw or after you thaw, if you thaw at room temp), pat dry then offer the mouse a few inches infront of the snake.
