baking soda

I was just reading the thread about people using baking soda in the bedding for their rats to keep the smell down.

I believe those guys are just keeping the rats as pets , though.

anyone use baking soda in the bedding for the rats they use as feeders for their snakes?

I have never heard of it before, but it seems like it would work. It may also have side effects on the feeding of the snakes, but I am ignorant on this subject.

I highly doubt that a snake couldn't handle the tiny amount of baking soda that might get on a rat. I use it in my rat bedding, but haven't been using it long enough to report anything other than that I've seen no issue yet (few months).

I use it.....no issues.


You lay the baking soda into the tub prior to adding bedding....it is a slight dusting at best...

People here have brushed their teeth with baking soda and water for years...no doubt they have ingested plenty and are still kicking...

remember...that is the difference between an animal actually and intentionally placing it into their mouth and one that MIGHT get some in their mouth...maybe

good enough. I didn't think it would be harmful , but I wanted to get some re assurance from some people that have tried it already.
