New ball python pees on everyone!

I just got a new ball python, and every time someone holds him, within five minutes he pees on them! Is this normal? Why is he doing this?

This is the third BP I have had, and none have them before this guy have ever doen this. Is he stressed, or is it just coincidental? He has eaten twice already since I have had him, and I didn't handle him at all the first week.

This is a little irritating, so just wondering if there is some reason for this behavior, or if I just unfortunately got a snake that likes to relieve himself on people.

Most likely a case of a scared/stressed baby. Give him more time to settle, and make sure you have some paper towel handy!

He should stop once he gets comfortable.

If it continues for a suspiciously long time, you can see a vet. But if it only happens when a person is holding him, then it's probably stress.

Easiest solution would be to hold him for less than five minutes? :D

Nervous snakes pee. My YB was a big pee-er when I first got him, it passed soon enough.

Also keep in mind if he is being handled he is more likely to urinate or defecate from the pressure, etc. You can squeeze urates, urine and feces out of snake without too much trouble.

Could it be HOW he is being handled, vs. THAT he is being handled?

Mine did that once when i first got him, it was suprisingly a lot. To be honest, at that point i was still learning about snakes, and it shocked me, because i never though about snakes urinating. lol Ahh..ignoroance hehe.

Ha, that's actually quite funny. I'm sure it will pass when he gets more comfortable. I had something similar with my ball. When he was a bit younger, I would hold him and he'd be just fine. I'd set him on my lap or something, at which point he figured it would be a perfect opportunity to release all of his bowel contents. I would get covered in poop, urine, and urates. Yay! *sarcasm* It was highly disgusting. He has not done it for a long time now though.

mine sometimes poop and pee on my nap ........ :D
not always ... just once a week .. when I handle her and she mad at me so she deliver her poop and pee on me

My ball peed on me last week not funny and i was setting on my dang bed:mad:. but i love her its allgood:D

This EXACT thing has happened to me! Twice! Well, once was on the floor, as soon as I put him down, yeah...and the other time was all over me while I was laying in my bed! EW!!! Now thanks to that I'm constantly watching my bp's butt, looking for that tail lift! I guess on a positive note, it doesn't really smell that badly. I'd much rather get poo'd/pee'd on by a snake then say a dog or a cat...
