Feeding guinea pigs or rabbits to BPs

I am looking at having a go at breeding my own snake food, directed more towards adult size BPs. I was thinking it might be more practical to feed them small guinea pigs or rabbits, as I wont have to wait as long for them to get the same size as a full grown rat.

Any thoughts on this?

I personally wouldn't recommend either food source live or f/t.

To breed your own would require both a lot more space and money than breeding rats or mice. You could have multiple breeding groups of rats and several grow up tubs in a rack that takes up 1/2 the space required for a few rabbit cages. It would take a few months to get your first group of feeders up to size but after that you will have a continuous supply of rats to feed off or freeze.

Plus Guinea Pigs only have 1 or 2 offspring at a time around 60-100g. Gestation is two months. At 4 weeks they are around 200g.

I did a quick Google search about rabbit sizes and on one site it said they are weaned by day 35 at 500-600g! That's a really big meal! I couldn't find any info on how big they are when born though.

I would do LOTS of research before delving into breeding Rabbits and GPs for feeders. Just doesn't seem worth it.

guinea pigs are supposed to be very high in fat content aswell which isnt good.
