my bp going under newspaper?
Pheobe has been being annoying lately by somehow manuvering herself under the newspaper i have as her substrate. Its concerning me because im afraid she could get burned if she isnt able to get out. this happens every day when i get home from school. Her temps are 88 on warm side around 70 on cool.
should i switch to aspen?.. or keep newspaper?
Re: my bp going under newspaper?
if hottest spot she can get to is 88 then you have no worries. Most dont get burned till temps reach 97+, and thats for a long exposure time.
some love going under the paper some dont. Nothing wrong with it, let her do what she wants.
Re: my bp going under newspaper?
thanks! im still going to switch to aspen because im getting some for free :)
Re: my bp going under newspaper?
Yeah some like to hide and thats one of the bst ways to do it. Also they can get out no issue, they are all muscle and its just some newspaper!
Re: my bp going under newspaper?
Aspen is free to start but will become another fee later.
Re: my bp going under newspaper?
if she is on top of newspaper or underneath it the temp shouldnt change, and if ur worried about her getting burned then turn the UTH down.
my lil guy does that once in a while. they wont get stuck there, they got in they can get out when they r ready
Re: my bp going under newspaper?
Aspen is not free but is definatly a good substrate. I like newspaper because it is free although i have been told aspen holds humidity better.
Re: my bp going under newspaper?
i have 2 that do that and i decided to take out the hides since they pushed them aside everytime and i havent had any problems with feeding or shedding i'm not recommending this however it does work for me and my snakes
Re: my bp going under newspaper?
I would raise your hot spot to the low 90's. She is probably trying to get closer to the heat source. 88* is pretty cool for a hot spot.
Re: my bp going under newspaper?
88 is perfect for ambient temperature on the warm end, which is what the op says it is,
but 70 is cooler than I'd have it on the cool end.
I try to keep my cool end at 78 to 80 degrees.
I see no mention of a hot spot temp
