    record rattlesnake
i got this in an email this morning

Guess what was found just south of Jacksonville..
Near the St. Augustine outlet, in a new KB homes subdivision.
15 foot Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake. Largest ever caught on record.

After seeing this, I did a little research, and learned the following:

One bite from a snake this large contains enough venom to kill over 40 full grown men.

The head alone is larger than the hand of a normal sized man.

This snake was probablu alive when George H. W. Bush was President.

A bite from those fangs would equal being penetrated by two 1/4 inch screwdrivers.

A snake this size could easily swallow a 2 year-old child.

A snake this size has an approximately 5 and 1/2 foot accurate striking distance. (The distance for an average size Rattlesnake is about 2 feet)

Judging by the size of the snake, it is estimated to weigh over 170 pounds. Hw much do you weigh?

lol... no photoshop needed. It's all about perspective.

That grabber, in fact most grabbers, are shorter than a person is tall.. Usually less than 48 inches long. The people in the background are far enough away to give size to the snake based on perspective. It looks big because it's closer to the camera.

Once you "see" how far back the people are, you can't help but see that this isn't a big snake at all.

X2. There was a thread about this pic before and thats exactly why the snake looks huge.

I agree with Buttery. Perspective. I think the snake is probably a normal size.

i "heard" that this snake was not as big as they stated at first but it was still the largest rattlesnake ever found. they did kill it on the spot and the snake "expert" that was there straight up stole it. when no one was looking he bagged the snake and dipped out. before they could get official measurements

I hate these types of stories. Get me a picture with the snake on the ground with a measuing tape showing the size. That snake was probably a lot smaller than they reported. 6-7 feet at the most.
