Odd Little Questions

Here's question area just for all those odd little things you think of that isn't covered in books.

My First Question

Snakes and Perfume.....
Are snakes generally okay with perfume you might wear? Or does the smell agitate them?

Second Question

Snakes and Color....Do snakes prefer certain colors?

there are some individual snakes that will snap because of perfume. the breeder i got my pastel from said that hes had quite a few that would do it and other than that they were babys

that being said... my pastel does not like perfume. lol

idk bout the colors. i dont think they really care.

The smell of perfume might be overwhelming to them at first but they will probably just get used to it. Similarly to when people keeps rats in the same room as the snakes, after a while they don't seem to "smell" them anymore.

As with alot of people I don't believe animals are color blind. I do believe maybe some respond to some colors more than others. My ball seems to prefer red. Anytime he sees anyone or anything with red or wearing red he comes over to investigate. I have noticed that alot of animals are "stimulated" by red. I have noticed that bright colored lures and stripes of red seem to attract fish when I'm fishing. I used to have a couple of Cockatiels and even a Nanday Conure and they ALL liked the color red. It may or may not, as I theorize, trigger a feeding stimulus too.

i have a normal girl that only eats white rats. if i try to feed her anything other than white she will ignore them. i tried a hooded rat and she killed it and then left it.

You know I might try that with Alexander when I try that other frozen mouse. I put fake mini plants and lavender colored flowers in his tank. I'll try sitting a red fake flower by the dead mouse and see what happens.

How old are BP's when they get discernible pupils in their eyes?

That is dependant on the colour of the eyes and how good you are at squinting at them in good lighting conditions.

Basically its from hatching if they have light eyes and from hatching if they have dark eyes and you look at them right. :P

I got him in good light and saw it properly.It's hard to see cause of the dark line of his pattern shows right behind his eyes.

NEW QUESTION

Can BP's eat eggs? I have cockateils and lots of egg laying, I was wondering if they can digest them. I've seen nature programs that show snakes eating eggs whole.
