Pastel x Pastel what results have you had? Do grandparents effect offspring?

I picked up a female pastel from a local pet store in January and she was about 480 grams. After feeding small rats every 6 days now she's a beast at 600+ grams, is just over 3ft, her girth is about 7 1/2 inches around and eats like she hasn't eaten in months every week!

I want to breed her with my graziani line pastel this winter but want her to get to 1400 grams.. I'll post pics of her and my male. Also, anyone bred pastel x pastel? What kind of results did you get? This is going to be my first breeding and I want to do it correctly, I'm hoping for beautiful pastels and a super :) But I'm not sure what to expect.. Grandparents of the graziani were a sterling and light normal.. the females parents are both pastels. Does that make any difference?

OMG... that last picture is awesome. :8: I don't know the answer to your question, but those are some beautiful pastels!

I hope to breed my pastels this upcoming season. Statisticly the ansewer to your question is
25% normals
50% pastels
25% super pastels....
for ease of mathmatics lets pretens she lays 8 eggs.. Statisticly you would have 2 normals 4pastels and 2 superpastels.....Hope this helps

I understand the statistics.. I was just hoping to get some picture responses of pastel parents and offspring.. I'd like to see what other people have produced. Thanks though and good luck with your breeding!

the final outcome of how it will looks varies on the parents...from what I can see u have 2 very nice examples of pastels, so a super fom your pair should come out very clean...even your regular pastels from those parents should be hot...keep feeding her and you will like the outcome..

Not that it could ever be 100% proven one way or another, but from what I've seen in ball pythons, you want to be looking at the 2 animals breeding, I wouldn't see grandparents playing that much of a role. Like GTPs you want to look back a few generations to see the potential. Ball pythons I don't think it matters as much.

as for your last picture, my carpet python tired the same thing, but shes about 3 times bigger than the tube and got stuck lol

It would be very interesting to know how far down the line affects your present clutch's genetics. BTW that is a VERY nice pair of pastels you have there:gj:
