Finally my baby BP has a bite to eat

We got Diamond on Feb 27, 2010. We have been trying to feed him f/t fuzzies. Also we have been having probs with temps in his cage. Someone on here suggested a UTH and another person suggested hoppers instead of fuzzies...We were going to wait another week and then maybe try live feeds, if he continued not eating. Went and bought the UTH tonight and some hoppers...got the temp to 90(yay us) and said what the heck lets try to feed. Left him in his cage to do it..he flicked it with his tongue, rubbed his nose up and down it once and then ever so gently opened his mouth and slowly took it off the tongs...no strike what so ever, he did everything very slow..he sat for about 2 minutes with it in his mouth...did not coil around it at all...he then repositioned it head first to go in...and sucked it down...Me and my Husband left the room and closed the door and started jumping up and down in the hall like fools, we were high 5ing each other. DIAMOND ATE ATE ATE. this is such a good feeling. Im keeping a journal. Now I feel like we can settle into a routine. I know there will be bumps in the road, but now that we are over this first feeding hurdle now I know we can handle it.

Congrats! It's such a relief when they eat their first meal! That's not long for a first feeding! My first bp took 3 weeks to eat his first meal and has never stopped since. Now just leave him be for 48 hours and no handling until he has had 3 meals! He should eat fine from now on!

    Congrats!!!

I think a lot of us forget what it was like the first time we ever had a snake for a pet. It really is a learning experience, but once you get everything down and understand snake husbandry, you start to think "hey, this really is a piece of cake".
