Ball Python Wont Move Around
I got a new ball python about a week ago. I have never had a snake before. My friend has had snakes and whenever I was over it would be moving around and such. I believe mine is only about 4-5 months old. Is it normal? It seems to be in it hide area all the time. The temp is around 90 on hot and 80 on cold and humidity stays around 60%. Suprisingly humidity goes up to 80% when I have my lamp off.
any advise will help!
Re: Ball Python Wont Move Around
Bp's are nocturnal, and shy... it is pretty common to be in the hide all day and come out at night. Hope that helps.

Having a snake, you'll notice your time schedules are totally different! BP's are nocturnal so she'll be coming out about the time you're going to bed.
Or maybe you're BP is getting used to it's new home :D
Re: Ball Python Wont Move Around
Thank you. Ive noticed some tracks but it seemed like all the pythons at pet stores and on youtube were super active. Hopefully he will get better!
Re: Ball Python Wont Move Around
Ball pythons are extremely inactive snakes when kept in proper conditions. My ball pythons only come out on or around feeding day, or if I am rummaging about the room at night they will poke their heads out to see what is up.

Agreed 100%. My snake will usually stay in her hide until the day before feeding day.
Re: Ball Python Wont Move Around
Ball pythons like to hide. If they're in their hidebox, it's a good sign and means they're comfortable. They'll be out roaming usually for two reasons - cause they're stressed and they're looking for a more secure environment or because they're hungry and they're looking for food.
Re: Ball Python Wont Move Around
If you wanted a snake that was going to move around a lot and be a good "show" animal, you definitely made a flaw when you chose a ball python.
Re: Ball Python Wont Move Around
As long as the snake isn't dead;), it's normal for them to be less active during the day. Wake up about 2 in the morning and I bet you'll see it moving around.
Good Luck!

Mine go crazy in their tubs from about 8 o clock at night to about 5 o clock in the morning. Then during the day, they all hide and chill untill its dark enough to roam.
