Bp tried to Eat me... lol

Ok, I just had a weird experience with my adult BP. She was chilling in my hands, happy as can be. Her behavior was alert and explorative.

After a minute or so of twisting about my arms she started to poke her nose against me. She would hold there for a sec then back of and lick my arm. I thought to myself that's bizarre. She licked up and down my arm for a sec. Then she pushed her nose against my wrist, opened wide, and, *chomp*, bit down...

This was all in slow motion. I'm asking about this because this is weird. It wasn't a quick strike. It was more of a taste and naw... lol.

Has anyone experience this with their Ball Pythons?

Never had it happen with my bp's but my false water cobra tried to get me like that once. Also that's how my blood python used to eat he wouldn't strike just rub his nose against the prey item (f/t or prekilled) and then just as calmly as possible would open up and bite down then drag it bag to his little lair. lol.

I haven't had it happen, but I do remember a post from a while back where a couple of forum members had it happen to them. Hopefully they will check it out and post their experiances

Have you figured out why it happened?
Were you rolling around in a pile of dead rats earlier that day and forgot to shower?

I wasn't going to put it quite like that, but was going to ask if it's possible you smelled like prey? Even poultry and fish appeal to some snakes, so maybe she wanted to try what you had for dinner? :D

:O Wow!!! Never had that happen. Did you do something to make her mad...lol. Tried to pop her....didn't clean out the cage quick enough....not a big enough mouse last week, didn't give the right water temp...maybe you just were not rubbing her on the right spot....:rofl::rofl:

Haha, no I wasn't bathing in a rat spa lol. I had actually just taken a shower.

She is an aggressive feeder...so. Maybe she thought she could handle me. I'll have to see if it happens again.

I haven't had it happen to me yet, but I've heard of it. That calm slow open up and latch on is also how my corns usually approach their f/t meals.
