Tank or Tub?

Hey guys!

I'm new here but not to snake ownership. I have a full grown (hopefully female) normal in a 20 gallon tank right now and I am obviously looking to upgrade her to a bigger enclosure. I came on this site initially to see some tank setups and get some ideas but now I am torn. I don't know if I should get her an appropriately sized tub or get her a bigger (30-40gal) tank.

So, I thought I would start a little poll. What do you us? Tank or tub? And, if you could, some pros and cons of each with your vote to give me a good idea of each option.

I built a custom enclosure a year ago for my bp. I wish I had just had the foresight to build a rack at that time -- it would have cost about the same.

I just aquired another bp over the weekend, and I have him in a tub for the time being.

The custom enclosure looks cool, but bp's aren't really show animals, you can't expand very easily with a tank, and they usually are harder to heat and hold humidity.

The tub is cheap, low maintenace (cleaning, etc.), and holds humidity well -- mine is actually a little high right now and I think I need to drill a few more holes :mad:

Save yourself the trouble now, and before you waste anymore money; either build or buy a rack!!

Sooner or later you will want more snakes!

I am planning on building a rack that will hold 8 adults and 4 juveniles -- hopefully that will last me for a while!!

Tubs all the way, just easier on me than cages

Aesthetically - tank.
Practically - tub.

Also, numbers... 1 or 2 in a tank is ok. Once you go beyond that, tubs seem to make more sense.

If you only have one snake, tank. If you're going to be building a collection, tubs.

Well, I am planning on expanding and I could probably use the 20 gal that I have her in right now for some cool geckos or something along those lines. The racks kind of seem a little weird to me though. It dosn't seem like the snakes have enough space to move around (and Isabelle does like to climb around, which apparently isn't very normal). I'm leaning a little bit more towards the tubs than the tanks and racks at this point but I would like to see as many answers as possible! :)

Tubs in a Rack system. You'll never look back!

I don't find tanks very aethetic when they're all covered in tinfoil to keep humidity up. If you're wanting to stay on the cheap side, go tub, your snake will thank you, and so will your wallet! If you want to to look awesome and be suitible for your snake at the same time, check into a boaphile/vision cage type of product.
