Stupid PetCO!!!!

I am sooo angry I could scream! Not a good idea since I'm at work, so I'm releasing some frustration on here.

I was in my Pet Co last Thurs, and the balls are so terrible looking. One not only has stuck/cracked eye caps, but is going blue underneath of them! AND there isn't one snake in that enclosure that doesn't have stuck shed on them!

Now, I'm the kind of person who would rather do something about it rather than complain. I just got off the phone with the General Manager. I offered to help her for free. I would come into the store on the weekends, or weeknights, to help clean up a few sheds. Do you know what she told me? "We have a specialist who takes care of that." Well, no offense lady but your specialist doesn't know squat. She was really rude too. Then she tells me they are old, and have been there for awhile. AT THE SIZE OF TWO PINKY FINGERS!!!! I don't think so. The worst part is she is probably right!

GRRRRRR! I'm turning them in, never going back, and hopefully something can be done. Hmm. I even think I'll turn in a job application.

I can understand if you don't know anything about the poor animals, but when you blatantly refuse help....... ugh!

(Deep Breath) Has anyone ever made a difference in a poor pet store?

I hope you told the manager she should fire her "specialist," who I would bet is some high school kid who knows nothing about reptiles or their proper care and husbandry, but just thinks snakes are cool or whatever, and isn't afraid to occasionally handle them.

For what its worth they probably couldnt let you come in and help since, without being an employee, you could be a liability.

That said, her response was retarded if text book. Theres been countless long discussions<vents> about the big chain stores when it comes to pets of most kinds. We can only continue to go through the proper channels and refuse to support the ones that wont take the time to properly care for their animals.

And of course vent to each other in the mean time ;).

Yeah, that's why i'm thinking of turning in the job application. Which will probably be turned down, because i'm not working with any spiders. Ughhh. I'm just going to go back when the GM isn't there. Darn. I should have asked to speak with her "specialist."

The night manager likes me. She'll let me help. Unless her manager told her to keep me out of there. I'm calling the KS Animal Health Dept and PetCo complaint department.

It's not stupidity that bothers me, it's knowing you are stupid and not doing anything about it!

There is a fine line between arrogance and ignorance...

I have not had the "pleasure" of dealing with a PetCo, there are none around me. I would turn in an app, if cannot afford to buy em out. That way you can try to help the little ones with out taking them in fully. If I got everyone that I saw that needed help at a pet store around here I would seriously over run. lol

Hope those little ones get help soon.

you gotta love Petco...that where I got my BP from. One worker told me she got bit in the face while feeding. She was a older lady, I dont think she knew squat about snakes. These worker are prob paid close to minimum wage to start, so I dont think your going to get a reptile expert. The one thing I do like about our local Petco is that they let the Humane Society come on Saturdays to showcase cats and dogs for adoption. Greyhound rescues too. But other than that, Dont really have that much good to say about them.:taz:

From the sounds of it you talked to a store manager... Go higher up! You have to go as high as you can for anyone to think twice about your complaint... But as far as I know Petco is corperately owned so I'm sure if you let head office know about the state of the animals in one of their stores they will look into it.

Yeah sometimes they listen sometimes they don't last week I actually ran in to the "reptile guy" who actually cared about the animals. He didn't know a lot but seemed willing to learn. They had a pastel bp that was underneath the water dish so I told the guy that if he put a couple hides that were smaller so that he could feel snug in them and had one hole, unlike the huge half log he had in there, that the snake would be much happier. The guy then told me he would try that!
