what does looking for wobble mean when looking at snakes???

when reading through a post someone mentioned look out for wobble when looking at spider morphs.

what does this mean???

the spider morph has a bit of a head wobble sometimes its not bad other can be worse. most times it kind of looks like they have parkinsons

So would that effect the snake in anyway? Will it still eat, reproduce, live as long etc....

Also does anyone know if this a genetic trait or is it just something spiders do?

they still eat, poop, sleep, breed and thrive just wobble and so far it seems its only the spiders that do it

spiders has it
but all kind off morhph whit spider in it
can have it
my spider eats like a monster
he shed very good
so the wobble is a fact but let it not
be a prob to have a spider

Any of the spider morphs can have a wobble or roll problem. Spider, bumblebee etc..



I wouldnt consider it a problem unless it is bad enough to interfere with feeding, drinking, moving etc.. I have only ever seen 1 spider with it that bad. I have a bee that never shows any sign of a wobble until its feeding time. Then she just vibrates her head when she is zeroing in on the rodent. She usually misses the first strike but once she has it she coils and then eats it as fast and normal as any of the other snakes do.

If its something you are concerned about just ask to see the snake eat before you buy it. If its an online sale ask for a short video. Of course if it is a reputable breeder with some feedback you can usually trust the word of the breeder on how bad the wobble may be.

Just remember the "spider" wobble could be bad as a baby and get better over time. Or it can be completely un-noticable until some point in adulthood. If its a very bad wobble though, you would know right away.

The spider wobble issue has been discussed in excruciating detail on these forums in the past. Do a few searches and you will find a wealth of information.

Some spiders wobble, some don't. Some do it real bad some just a wee bit. Some do it as babies and then grow out of it. Some don't wobble as babies and then start to wobble as they get older.

Spiders don't just wobble. They'll sometimes try and turn themselves into a knot. They like to do it more than ever at a show when you put them in a clear display case. To the novice, it appears to be IBD(well everything appears to be IBD to the novice:taz:). It just something Spiders do and you'll need to live with it if you breed them..... or any morph with the Spider gene in it.

Touche. I think "wobble" is the de facto euphamism as "pretzel" or "corkscrew" just sound too harsh.
