it is recommended that you breed a male to no more than than 5 females. And yes, you might want to get a back and then a back up for the back up.

Most people only go 1-5 or 6. But you can, or he can go with more. We go with 12 per male to start the season. Then we check the females and mark the ones that are progressing and concentrate on them more.

    cool,

    Thank you for the reply

So if i got two male bees then put them both with a group of 5 other morphs that would be adequate to expect results. Or by Having 2 Males should i increase the number of females to like 6 or something?

    regards

Their you animals but if it were me, and you want another male. I would get a different male, like a pewter or something else in adition to the bee.

It depends on if you're trying to convince a spouse that you need another snake. If that's the case, then tell them for every female you need a male. Then go out and buy a few more females.

If you're not trying this, then I go no more than 1 male for 3 females. But most go 1 male to as many as 5 females.

I know what it's like to be a gigilo, and I can tell you any more than 3 woman at a time can be a bit taxing. :O:D;);)

I have one male paired with 6 females this year, but the rotation is pretty leisurely. I'm giving him a couple days with each one, and time off for food and shedding. He's even eating about half the time, and he's 2 years old. He seems to be handling it fine--the telling point will be when I start getting clutches. He's had a few week-long rest breaks already.
He's a real trooper, he loves the ladies.

I'd like if you could explain in more detail how you rotate a male through 12 females. If you follow the oft repeated 3 days on, 3 days off, that is 6 days per 1 visit to 1 female, or 72 days to get through all 12 females. That seems like way too much time going by, so I suspect you must be doing something different. Please share!

He could stick to the rule but use 2 males of the same morph, rotating through. That would yield a 31 day break for females, which is a month. Some breeders only pair once a month. Its all personal preference. It only takes one lock to do the deed, but who knows which lock it is.....

We start the season in mid to late October, 2 days in each cage, 1 day off for feed.
We do this until the end of November when we ultrasound everyone.
Females under 10 mm folicals get a blue dot
10 - 15 get a yellow dot, (watch and see)
15-45 green dot (good to go)
45 and up get a red dot ( egg walk every day)

The females with green dots get the male for 2 days and the ones with yellow dots get the male for 1 day, red dots do not see the males at all anymore. Blue dots might get a visit but they generaly will get skiped over.

We ultrasound once a month, more if I have time.
