How do you know...?

if and when your BP has settled in his enclosure?

When my BP, goes back to his hide, he sticks his head out the hole after his body is in? Is this normal?

BTW, my BP wanders around his enclosure during the night... then after a few minutes goes back in his hide, then after a while wanders around again, then back again, then wanders again and then back again... is this normal?

I got my BP last week, and was handling him almost everyday except after feeding 2 days ago... Did not know about the 2 weeks abstinence then... should I still do this 2 weeks abstinence from handling? Now he mostly stays inside the hide during the day, then comes out around 11 pm... then does his wandering...

I'm a Noob btw...

well they come out at night so yes it is normal and i would say the whole 2 week thing really its only about a week and since u already held him i would say just give him a couple days to get use to his enclosure maybe like 2 -3 and should be fine but thats just me lol good luck :)

Sounds normal. They do their hunting at night so I can bet just getting familiar with their new digs. Keep up the good work.:gj:

how is he eating?? if hes eating and hiding all day then hes prolly fine. as the others said they will come out at night and just cruise around.

If he is eating for you then is should be settled in. Just keep the handling to a minimum for a couple weeks! Let him get used to you! The behaviour sounds normal! They sleep most of the time!

This is my current tank setup... I only have one hide since I think I dont need the warm side and cold side (I think)... Since I'm in the tropics, normal room temp is around 30+/- Celsius...

any comments/suggestions?

My balls always poke their heads out of their hides to see what is going on when someone is in the room, it's so cute.

It sounds like your snake is behaving normally, and has probably settled in to his new home just fine.

I would still recommend a cool side and a warm spot so that your snake can thermoregulate and choose for himself whether he wants to be warm or cool. 30C is about 86F, so you still have the ability to bring the hot spot up a few degrees, even if you can't make the cool side cooler due to your room temps. I'd aim for a hot spot of about 33C (92F). I know some people do keep BPs at one constant temp rather than a cool side/warm side, so it is probably not necessary, but I do think it would be better if you can do it.

Also, you have plenty of room in that enclosure for a second hide, even if you decide to keep the enclosure at one temp. Your snake will probably be happier without so much open space.
