    Boa Feeding Question
Some of you may have read a thread about my boa, Isis. She is nearly 2 years old and she is only 360g. She had feeding issues for the longest time and now she is finally eating on a weekly basis. Actually I've upped her feeding to every 5 days. So now that she's eating on a regular basis, I want to get her up to the size she needs to be. She's currently eating rat pups (30g-ish) and I'm wondering if she could be eating more. Should I double up on the rat pups (60g total for meal) or feed her something larger?

I wouldn't be in such a rush, feed her an appropriate sized meal, no more than once a week. You should see a slight bulge, no more. Let her grow at her own pace. Since she had so much trouble, she might turn out a little stunted, but I'm sure she'll have lots of growing left in her.

How much does an adult boa weigh? (In grams, ounces, or pounds) I'm going to take it in small leaps. My first goal is to get her to 500g and eating small rats.

She really dont look that small to me for almost 2 years old! Just feed her a meal that puts a small lump in her every 10-14 days and she will grow fine! Nice looking Boa btw!

Really? I looked up pictures of two year old boas and they are huge! She is a sweetheart and I love her to pieces. She gets fed every 7 days right now. These pictures don't do her justice. When I bought her as a baby she was small and gray. Now she is this beautiful creamy tan color and her tail is nice and red. I'm hoping my sister brings her camera over tomorrow and we are going to take some good pictures of her. Well......that's if she holds still which she usually doesn't.

(Yep, just looked up pictures of boas and she is the same size as a boa that is under a year old and she is nearly two!) I really can't wait until she starts putting on some size.

Gotta remember, alot of people feed their girls ALOT to get them up to breeding size fast. Growth rate is hugely depending on rate of feeding, but also things like temperature and parental size.
As long as she's eating consistently and is otherwise healthy, it doesn't matter how fast she's growing.

i concur, a lot of people power feed their animals to get them up to breeding size but while they're getting they're snakes up to breeding size they're also causing harm to the snake. no one want an obese snake.
