    Weird BP Dream
So.. I had a dream about my BP last night. I woke up this morning pretty shaken up by it lol

Before my dream, let me preface with last nights events...

Last night was feeding night (5 days since her first meal with me), and so I stopped by the pet store to pick up a live mouse. As I was waiting for the guy to bring a box so I could pick out a mouse, they had the rats next to them in an open tank.

I reached my hand in and was swarmed by a pair of rats. They both came over, and started to wrestle around with each other next to my hand. They let me pet them, play with them etc, it was.. pretty darn cool.

Anyhow, so I get my mouse, and go home. Left the mouse in her box for ~45 mins before feeding my snake. Put the mouse in, she grabbed it, killed it and then ate it. Took ~10 mins.

So anyhow.. in my dream last night..

I assumed the role of this mouse. And I could see myself outside of my snakes tank. So I (as the mouse) am running around, scared, knowing a predator is right there. My snake grabs me, and starts to constrict me. It has me coiled, and I am fighting for air. I am fighting to move. My legs are kicking, things are slowly starting to get black. I am wondering why I (person) am not trying to help me. I think it isn't fair- I had no chance. Why me? The last thing I see before totally blacking out, is my own face outside of the tank. I try gasping for one last breath to prolong my own life, but upon my final exhalation... the snake squeezes me even tighter, and then everything goes black.

It was so weird. It happened multiple times last night. I woke up feeling extremely guilty, and I am not sure why. I understand the reasoning behind feeding my snake obviously. I don't enjoy watching my snake kill/eat, etc. I just understand it is necessary for her survival. And because of my dream and my own thoughts, my mind's perception is that what I witnessed in my dream from the mouse's view is reality.

Anyhow, it was a very weird dream that I couldn't stop thinking about and had to get off of my chest. I wonder if by playing with those rats, I personified them a bit, giving them feelings/emotions that humans share... So I felt guilty about feeding off something like that. I don't know lol.

    Very weird. :rolleye2:

Well.....Damn, you had me feeling guilty with that very detailed story. I think I will sell of my collection to the highest bidder. The bidding starts a few years down the road after I produce a few clutches that I want.:)

Do you like steak? If i ever feel guilty i just think of a delicious med-rare piece of cow on my plate. Mmmmmm. I bet my snakes think the same thing when they smell a mouse/rat!

Winter is almost over, and it's about time to fire that grill up again! I'm having withdraws :(

that's pretty much how the mice/rat feels. although they can't really reason about why the person isn't helping them...it's still kind of sad.
anyways, this reality is the reason i feel f/t.
i think mice and rats are really cute
i can feed them to my snake after they're dead no problem.

i recommend you don't dwell on how "cute" the snake food is. lol.

Yeah, I just came back from Chinese buffet. Poor dog... er, I mean chicken.. :P

Those were once alive as well. It was just a weird dream that gave me a different perspective. Although she wouldn't take FT, I may give it a try again.

And it isn't like I regret keeping a snake or anything...but.. it does make me wonder why alot of people get such enjoyment watching the snake kill/eat a live rodent. Look at youtube, tons of people enjoy watching the death of another animal.

I am not a hippie, carebear, etc etc. I respect my snakes killing ability, something it has obviously perfected over an evolutionary time period. It is something definitely worth seeing.. But.. I have no desire to video tape it with me hooting/hollering/laughing in the background, and playing it with heavy metal music. I find the actual intake of the food much more interesting than the killing. It is amazing how they put their food down.

Anyhow... just a bizarre dream I had. And a bit of a sense that I am responsible for that mouse no longer existing. Yesterday at this time he was sleeping/eating with his inbred brothers and sisters lol.. and today... nothing. A cease of existence.

But hey... my snake is happy, fed, and was curled up inside her warm hide this morning digesting her food. She will enjoy a nice long life under my care, hopefully :gj: (I noticed she only uses her warm hide after she eats. I guess to speed up metabolism a bit?)

Just an interesting bit of trivia-don't underestimate mother nature... ;) Rodents have the ability to release their own endogenous pain-killers/anesthetics. Perhaps nature's small way of showing mercy to an obvious mammilian food source!
