    Rack/Helix Need Help
Ok so I got my Rack and my Helix last nite from Reptile BAsics and I cant seem to get these temps right. I have the probe taped straight to the Flexwatt. The tubs seem to bubble in the middle. The only way Im able to get the temps to 88-90 in the tubs is to set the helix at 102... is that too high or is that normal with this rack. Please help me out so I can rid of these 3 tanks I have. I have another rack but its made completely different but it runs great.

the room is relatively colder around 65... I hate the heat on, hate the stuffy nose lol .. could that be the reason why I need to set the temp higher

Most likely... 65 is realy cold, specialy for your snakes, that means that the ambient temp inside their tubs will be 70 tops. Try to keep your room temp at 70 at least.

You can't pay attention to the reading on the helix! If the temps in the tubs are correct and the helix keeps that temp then you are good!!!

X2. And yes, there is a gap between the heat tape and the tubs so the tape will have to be significantly hotter than the desired tub temp.

With a room that cold, and without additional heat source, the single row of heat tape won't get your cool side above low 70's (not good).

put the probe in the tub and set the stat to the correct temp. the room my snakes are in is 56-65 avg and temps in the tubs are always where they should be. flexwatt may have to be on more often then if they were in a room that was 75-80 but it works.
