Those days where you find out when your female is a male (vice versa).

They can be good or bad, and I just had one of those days today. Have you?

Today, while I was cleaning out "Bindi's" tub, I thought, "Hey, might as well just rinse everyone off after I change the dishes and spot clean." So I did, and then I was thinking back to see how much "Bindi" has grown, and come to think of it that "she" hasn't grown a whole lot but still grew pretty big then when I first had "her". Then, I looked at "her" tail, and it looked very long. After many times of popping and having nothing pop back out at me, I figured it was just a female. I got curious and thought, "All right, one last time." and sure enough a hemipene pops out at me, and I said out loud, "I KNEW IT!!"

He's just around the breeding weight as well, and so is my larger female. Breeding season MAY start early for me if my Spider doesn't get bigger faster. So, HIS name is back to Monty just how it was before when I first got him. I actually like that he's a male, and it's good because if my Spider isn't big enough in time for breeding then I can just turn to Monty.:D

Sorry for this long story, had to make it epic (I think it is!). I wanna hear your epic stories:D

I learned by watching videos on YouTube and reading up about it. I watched closely to see how the people on YouTube did it, and I repeated the technique. Now I know that I can pop correctly LOL. Try looking at 8BallPython's popping video, it's pretty good to watch and learn how to pop snakes.

Well, best to start out with popping a male when you KNOW for a fact it is a male so you will know what to expect to see when you are popping. If you don't see hemipenes, you aren't doing it right. But, you don't need to apply so much pressure, only using very little pressure can be successful. I normally pull the cloaca downwards very lightly with my thumb on my left hand while my other thumb on my right hand is about a half inch on the tail from the cloaca. I have my index fingers rested on the back of the tail while the snake is flipped over. I push up with my index fingers just a little bit and roll my thumb on my right hand forward. Sorry if that's kind of confusing, but I described it as best as I could. Have you watched 8BallPython's video on popping?

The way you injure them is by applying a large amount of pressure, though it's easiest to use very little pressure and you will find it's pretty simple to pop. I found using more pressure to pop the snake ends up with seeing a male as a female.

I had the opposite, my male was a female! I was happy because I paid less for my male albino! My friends male was very hard to pop! I thought he was going to have the same problem as me but we took him to the local reptile store and he popped him and he was a "shy male" the guy said! He also showed us how to pop! It is easy to do and you don't need alot of pressure, just enough to cause it to open!

Yeah definitely, just a little pressure is all it takes. My male is definitely a "shy male" LOL.

I may also state for the others who don't know how to pop: It's always good to physically see someone in front of you pop a snake to show you how it's done so you can see even closert than the YouTube videos show you.

I purchased 2 females that are breeding now!!:banana: but paid $50 each for two full grown female balls well one male now lol so it wasnt that bad
