how much big should the UTHs be?!

Something terrible happened to me today, my cornsnake died by a car accident, no joke.
So Im giving the thermostat to my ball python now and also the UTH of the cornsnake im gonna put it on the ball python's cool side.
What i need to know is, should the heatmats cover all the bottom of the aquarium or a small part as the cool side and a small part as the warm side is enough?

both my uth are small and not big enough to cover the all of the bottom , so righ now she has 3/4 without UTH and 1/4 warm side.

The UTH should cover between 1/4-1/3 of the floor space for the hot side.

The UTH on the hot side covers about 1/4 of the viv, Now im gonna put another UTH for the coolside since i have a too much cold side, should this UTH cover the rest of the 3/4 of the aquarium or anoth 1/4 on the other side with the correct cool temps is enough?

So sorry to jump ship.... how did your corn snake die in an auto accident:confused:

he escaped my vivarium and i couldn't find him, this morning i went out to take my dog for a walk and i found him flattened front of my door on the street, its not a very good morning view :(

You shouldn't need a heatmat in the rest of the cage if you've already got a 1/4 to 1/3 covered - especially in your climate, I'm thinking! Not unless the cool end is REALLY cool??

well cause the faq on the husbandry part of this forum says it must not be below 82-84F. my cool side is about 69-75F i still not understand why since she still has a warm side to thermo with but well just wanna be safe.

temps here in the desert can really change over night so i have a UTH that covers a lil more than half of the tub with a thermostat and i have a red light on 24/7 to keep ambient temps up around 80

Well you should only need one uth. Because the one uth at 92 for the hot. And since its in a tub it should raise the ambient temp of the cool side to what you u would need.

Unless ur house is really cold?
