Quick aspen substrate question
Just wondering if it's just as okay to use this aspen instead of this aspen for a substrate for my ball pythons?
Just curious because it's so much less expensive, and it can be bought in bulk rather than those small packages that aren't really efficient for me.
Re: Quick aspen substrate question
Personally, I don't like the petco one since it is bigger chunks. The zoomed aspen is the same as the Harlen aspen in way bigger bags. Where are you located?
Re: Quick aspen substrate question
You can use this. I have a preference for finely shred Aspen myself after my Spider got a chip wedged in his mouth holding it wide open. But you can certainly use this.

Re: Quick aspen substrate question
I tried that Petco aspen, my snakes hated it. Every single one perched on top of their hides and refused to come down until I got rid of it. It comes in very big chunks and is extremely dusty!
What I found that works good is Kaytee aspen bedding and litter. It comes in a great big bag like the Petco stuff, but is smaller pieces and much cleaner. It's not as fine as "snake" aspen, but my guys are all doing great on it.
I picked up a big bag of Kaytee at my local mom & pop pet store for the same price as the Petco junk, so look around a little.
