    Best tubs for breeding rats
Hello everyone! What tubs are the best for keeping a breeding group of rats? I know a lot of people really like the mortar tubs, but others prefer the cat litter boxes? Are there other tubs that work well? What are your preferences?

What is the best type of tub for keeping pregnant females as they give birth and raise their babies?

    Thank you!

im using the jumbo litter pans right now. they are awesome! im using 2 tubs for the breeders and the other 4 for the moms that are raising pups. im gonna build another rack tomorrow for all the weaners and grow ups out of the mortar tubs. i fugure all the little ones will have more room to run around that way i can have more per bin. i had three moms give birth in the past week and a half with 35 babies total and one more is preggo!

If you are separating the pregnant mothers I would use the litter pans. The jumbos are the best for breeding tubs and the mediums are great for birthing/nursing tubs.

If you are leaving the 1.4 group in the tub to raise the pups and wean them there then there is no other choice besides the mortar tubs.

Other acceptable alternatives are bus tubs, and Iris CB30s.
